Dharmapuri town is the headquarters of Dharmapuri District. Horticulture is the major technology following in Dharmapuri district. All types of fruits and vegetables are cultivated in this district. Mango is the major crop of this district. These mango varieties are called as Killimukku.  Katla, Rogu and Mirgal are the major varieties of fishes available here. Hogenakkal Waterfalls is the famous tourist place located in Dharmapuri district. Dharmapuri district is also well known for Marble Stones and Black granites.

History of Dharmapuri
The Hoysalas, Pandyas, Vijayanagar Kings, Sultans, Nayak rulers and British are the emperors ruled Dharmapuri. In 1972 A.D, British captured this district. It was separated from Salem district and declared as separate district in the year 1965.
