Krishnagiri Town is the headquarters of Krishnagiri district in Tamilnadu. This district was separated from Dharmapuri district on 09-02-2004. A famous old fort called “Syed Basha Hill Fort” is located in Krishnagiri. Mango is the main crop cultivated in this district. Nearly this district produces 3, 00,000 tons every year. Two main varieties of Mangoes like Thothapuri and Alphonso have been cultivating here. This town is located very nearer to Dharmapuri, Hosur and Bangalore.

Krishnagiri History
The history of this district has seen from Indus Valley Civilization and Iron Age. When Chola period have ruled this area, this place was called as “Nigarili Chola Mandalam” and “Vidhugadhazhagi Nallur” There are some Memorial Stones, you can found here, which have dedicated for brave people, who have sacrificed their life for the kingdom in various periods, since Sangam age.
