Thoothukudi city is the headquarters of Thoothukudi district in Tamilnadu. This district was separated from Tirunelveli district in 1986. This city is popularly known as “Pearl City” and famous for Pearl fishery and Shipbuilding. This district had great name in Indian Independence against British.
